Gas range repair in Ottawa and Gatineau

That rate applies to every gas appliance (gas stove, range, oven, cooktop and gas dryer) and reflects certified gas handling, leak-testing of each joint the technician opens, and a combustion check at the end of the visit.

Electric and induction ranges are the standard $89 + tax residential diagnostic. If your range is electric coil, smoothtop radiant or induction, you want range repair instead, glass top stove repair for smoothtop faults, or induction stove repair for induction faults: same care, lower diagnostic.

A travel charge may apply beyond 30 km from downtown Ottawa; ask when you book. Regular hours are 7 AM to 9 PM; outside them a $100 flat after-hours fee is added. A completed repair is backed by a 3-month warranty on parts and labour.

• One surface burner won’t light but the others do. Nearly always a blocked burner port, a dirty or cracked igniter electrode, or one channel of the spark module dropping out. More on stove burner not working.
• The igniter clicks and clicks but never lights. Moisture in the burner cap, a worn electrode or a failing spark module. See gas stove igniter clicking.
• The oven won’t ignite. On a gas range the usual cause is a weak hot-surface igniter: it glows, but the safety valve never opens. See oven not igniting.
• The oven runs cold, hot or wildly uneven. A drifted oven sensor, a miscalibrated control, or a gas pressure regulator out of spec. See oven temperature problems and oven not heating.
• Yellow or orange flames instead of blue. An air-shutter or orifice problem, or the wrong orifices after a natural-gas-to-propane conversion. Flame colour is a combustion indicator, so book promptly.
• A burner knob stuck, loose or igniting on its own. Worn valve stems or a failed valve. See stove burner stuck on.
• The broiler is dead while bake works. Most gas ranges run the broiler on its own igniter and valve circuit.
• Self-clean faults and a locked door. The door-latch motor or a thermal limit, often after a cycle that overheated.

We service freestanding, slide-in and drop-in gas ranges, dual-fuel models with a gas cooktop over an electric oven, and commercial-style residential ranges. An electric range fault is an electrical problem. A gas range fault is a combustion problem with an electrical trigger, and the consequences of getting it wrong are not the same. Gas work means leak-testing each joint that is opened, checking the flame pattern on the burners, making sure the oven safety valve closes fully when the call for heat ends, and confirming that combustion products aren’t spilling into the room.

That is the work the $129 + tax diagnostic pays for, and why gas work isn’t quoted at the electric rate. It also means there are jobs we decline: if the range has been fitted with incorrect orifices, or the gas connector is a type that is no longer permitted, we tell you what has to change and who has to do it rather than reassemble something unsafe.
