These checks help confirm the symptom. If the problem continues, a professional diagnosis is the safest way to avoid replacing parts you don’t need.

• Fridge not cooling: check the temperature setting and make sure food isn’t blocking the vents.
• Washer not draining: make sure the drain hose isn’t kinked and, on a front-loader, that the pump filter isn’t blocked.
• Dryer without heat: clean the lint screen and check that the vent isn’t crushed or blocked; poor airflow cuts heat and stretches drying times.
• Dishwasher with standing water: clean the filter and look for debris in the sump. If the water returns, the pump or an internal blockage may be the cause.
• Dishwasher leaking: with an active leak, stop the cycle and book a diagnosis; seals, hoses, valves and internal parts can all be the source.
• Oven heating unevenly: temperature swings often point to a sensor or element, which testing confirms.
• Error code: write the code down exactly (for example F21, 4E or E1) and photograph the model label.

As a rule of thumb, a repair makes sense when the appliance is in good overall condition, the failure is a single part and the price is well under half the cost of a comparable new unit.
