Walk-in cooler & freezer problems we troubleshoot
Not holding temperature
Temperature climbing, freezer cycling but not freezing, fridge above the safe-food threshold.
Evaporator fan failure
Loud bearings, motor not turning, frost over evaporator coil from poor airflow.
Condenser issues
Dirty condenser coil, condenser fan failure, head-pressure problems.
Defrost system
Failed defrost heater, defrost timer, defrost termination switch, ice buildup on coil.
Door & gasket failures
Door sweep, hinges, latches, heated frame, magnetic gasket replacement.
Controller / electronic faults
Temperature controller, alarm board, display panel, wiring, sensors.
Condensate drain blockages
Drain line freeze-up, drip pan overflow, P-trap and heat-trace inspection.
Lighting & signage
LED retrofits, ballast replacement, low-voltage transformer.
Scope & trade coordination: Sealed-system refrigerant work (recovery, recharging, brazing of refrigerant lines, compressor replacement involving the closed circuit) is performed in coordination with licensed refrigeration trades in our network. Every quote tells you up-front which scope is inside our license and which is coordinated through a separately-licensed partner — no surprises.
How a commercial walk-in service call works
1. Phone diagnostic + dispatch
Call (613) 301-0016. We capture make/model, the symptom, your hours, and your loss-mitigation priorities (which product to triage first, whether you can move stock). Most calls in Ottawa proper get a same-day arrival window when booked before 1 PM.
2. On-site assessment
Our tech runs a full diagnostic on the cabinet, controls, evaporator, condenser, defrost, drain, and door systems. You get a written quote that separates parts cost, labour, and any sub-trade coordination cost.
3. Same-day fix when parts are stocked
30+ years means we know which controllers, evaporator fan motors, defrost heaters, and door hardware our local distributors stock — most common repairs complete same-day.
4. Documented service + warranty
Written documentation on the work performed (insurance, HACCP, and chain-account audit friendly). Written warranty on parts and labour installed.
Commercial pricing: Service-call diagnostic is $129 + tax (commercial rate). After-hours emergency dispatch (9 PM–7 AM) includes a $100 flat emergency fee on top of regular rates. Jobs more than 30 km from downtown Ottawa may include km / travel fees, quoted up-front before dispatch. Refrigerant-circuit work and sealed-system replacements are quoted separately when a sub-trade is required.

- Same-day documentation — for landlord-tenant, insurance, HACCP, and chain-account auditors.
- Written warranty on parts and labour installed on every commercial job.
- Trade coordination transparency — what’s inside our scope vs. coordinated through a licensed refrigeration / HVAC / gas-fitter sub is always called out before billable work begins.
- Reachable — every shift has a dispatcher answering. After-hours emergency line (9 PM-7 AM) routes through the same number, same rate posted up-front.

Frequently asked questions
Can you respond same-day to a walk-in cooler emergency?
Most Ottawa-Gatineau calls booked before 1 PM get a same-day arrival window. After-hours emergency dispatch is available 9 PM–7 AM at a $100 flat emergency fee on top of regular rates. Stock-loss triage is the first conversation we have on the call.
Do you handle refrigerant work and sealed-system repairs?
Walk-in cooler troubleshooting, controls, evaporator and condenser fan work, defrost system, door and gasket work, and drain line work are inside our license. Sealed-system work (refrigerant recovery, recharging, brazing closed-circuit lines, compressor replacement involving the sealed circuit) is coordinated through licensed refrigeration trades in our network. The split is on every quote up-front.
What does a commercial walk-in service call cost?
Commercial diagnostic service call is $129 + tax. Most repairs that don’t involve sealed-system work are quoted parts + labour in writing before any billable work. After-hours (9 PM–7 AM) adds a $100 flat emergency fee.
Do you provide documentation for HACCP or chain-account audits?
Yes — written diagnostic, work performed, parts replaced, technician name, time on-site, and warranty. Format is audit-friendly for HACCP, insurance, landlord-tenant, and corporate chain accounts.
Are walk-in repairs warrantied?
Every completed repair carries a written warranty on the parts we installed and the labour to install them. Specifics depend on the part — confirmed in writing before billable work begins.
Do you also service reach-in commercial refrigeration?
Yes — prep tables, merchandisers, reach-in fridges, reach-in freezers, beverage centres, undercounter units. See our commercial appliance repair page for the full scope.
