Inside an LG fridge, look for the model label on the upper side wall of the fresh-food section; washers and dryers carry it inside the door opening or on the back panel, and dishwashers on the side edge of the door.

When an LG refrigerator stops cooling, the cause is usually the linear (inverter) compressor, an evaporator fan motor or the defrost system. Fans and defrost faults are standard repairs, and the technician tests them first, because a frosted evaporator or a stalled fan can look like a compressor failure.

Ice building up around the ice maker in the fresh-food door is a known LG issue on several French-door models. Warm, moist air leaks into the ice compartment and freezes on the ice maker, the chute and the bin. Typical causes are a worn compartment gasket, a door that no longer seals squarely, or a fault in the ice-compartment fan. • LE: locked motor, often a rotor-position (hall) sensor or stator failure on direct-drive washers.
• UE: unbalanced load; if it repeats with normal loads, the shock absorbers and suspension are checked.
• OE: drain fault, from a clogged pump filter, the drain pump or a kinked hose.
• dE: door or lid lock fault.

LG dryer not heating

On electric LG dryers, no heat usually means a failed heating element, thermistor or thermal fuse. Gas models add the igniter and gas-valve coils, repaired in Ontario by our TSSA-certified technicians. If you smell gas, leave the home and call Enbridge Gas (Gazifère in Gatineau) or 911 from outside. OE on an LG dishwasher points to a drain fault: a clogged filter, the drain pump or a kinked drain hose. AE (E1 on some models) means the leak sensor in the base has detected water.
