1. Dirty Condenser Coils

2. Failed Evaporator Fan
Cold air is made in the freezer and blown into the fridge compartment. If the evaporator fan motor dies, the freezer may stay cold while the fridge warms up. Common on Samsung, LG, and Whirlpool French-door models.
3. Defrost System Failure
A stuck defrost timer, failed defrost heater, or broken bi-metal thermostat lets frost build up on the evaporator. Air can’t circulate. You may see ice at the back of the freezer and a warm fridge.
4. Bad Start Relay or Capacitor
The compressor won’t start without a good relay. Symptom: clicking sound every few minutes, fridge and freezer both warm. Cheap part, fast fix — if caught early.
5. Faulty Thermistor / Temp Sensor
The control board reads the wrong temperature and stops calling for cooling. Often triggers error codes on newer Samsung and LG fridges (22°C, 33°E, rE, FF).
6. Door Gasket / Seal Failure

Quick Checks Before You Call (2 Minutes)

- Power: Is the fridge plugged in and the breaker on? Test the outlet with a lamp or phone charger.
- Temperature dial: Someone may have bumped it. Fridge should be at 3–4°C (37–40°F), freezer at -18°C (0°F).
- Vents: Check the back wall of the fridge. Food or containers pushed against the air vents will block cold air flow.
- Door seal: Close the door on a sheet of paper. If it slides out with no resistance, the gasket needs replacement.
- Condenser coils: Pull the fridge out. If the coils at the back (or behind the kick-plate) look like a dust carpet, vacuum them and wait 24 hrs.
