Buzzing, clicking or never shutting off

Repeated clicking is often a start relay that is failing; a fridge that runs constantly usually has an airflow or defrost fault. Catching either early can save the compressor, the most expensive part in the machine. Older units in Parkwood Hills and Borden Farm are worth checking sooner rather than later.

The technician works through the compressor and its start relay, the evaporator and condenser fans, the defrost heater, thermostat and control board, the air damper, the door gaskets and the water line, and gives you the repair price in writing before any repair work begins. The honest math: a refrigerator under 8–10 years old with a fan, relay, damper or defrost fault is nearly always worth repairing, because the fix costs a fraction of a new unit. The calculation changes when a sealed-system component fails on an older machine, and we’ll say so on the spot rather than sell you a repair that doesn’t make sense.
