Gas and electric dryer repair in Nepean

Long dry times usually mean restricted airflow: a lint-packed blower housing, a crushed transition duct, or an exterior vent hood that is clogged or painted shut. Left alone, this is also the classic fire risk. We clear the airflow path inside the dryer and check the exhaust temperature.

Squealing, thumping or grinding

Won’t start at all

Door switches, thermal fuses, start switches and belt-break switches can all leave a dryer dead. We test the circuit end to end instead of guessing.

Shuts off mid-cycle or trips the breaker

Overheating from poor airflow, a shorted element or a weak breaker. We find the actual cause rather than resetting it and hoping.

Many Bells Corners, Qualicum and Arlington Woods homes were built when dryer vents were an afterthought: long duct runs through cold basements or crawl spaces, sometimes in flexible foil duct, which is no longer allowed for concealed vent runs. Long, cold runs condense moisture, moisture glues lint in place, and that is why a dryer that worked fine in July can take two cycles per load in January. Lint build-up in vents is also a leading cause of dryer fires.

When we repair a dryer in Nepean, we check the full exhaust path, not just the machine. We measure airflow at the exterior hood, can replace a crushed or foil transition duct with rigid or semi-rigid metal, and tell you plainly if the duct run inside the walls needs a cleaning we can’t reach from the laundry room. A heating element replaced without fixing the airflow that killed it just burns out again, so we deal with both.

When you book, we confirm the make, model and whether the unit is gas or electric, so gas jobs go to a TSSA-certified technician and the model is known before the visit. They test the heat source, thermostats and fuses, belt and rollers, blower and the full vent path, then give you a written quote before starting. After any gas work the connections are leak-tested, and on every dryer the technician checks airflow at the exterior vent.

Completed repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour, gas or electric. If a dryer fails late in the evening, visits between 9 PM and 7 AM add a $100 flat after-hours fee to regular rates.
