Fridge and refrigerator repair in Kanata

When a fridge stops cooling, a full load of groceries starts to spoil within hours, with the freezer close behind. We have been fixing refrigerators in Ottawa’s west end since 1995. In Kanata Lakes and Morgan’s Grant that usually means big French-door and counter-depth models; in Beaverbrook and Glen Cairn it is just as often an older top-mount or side-by-side that has given years of service.

Not cold, but the light comes on

This is the most urgent call we take. A working light proves the fridge has power, not that it is cooling. The fault is typically a dead evaporator fan, an evaporator coil that has frosted over, a compressor start relay that has given out or a damper stuck shut. Freezer fine, fresh-food side warm

Here the freezer holds its temperature while the fresh-food compartment creeps up. On most fridges the fresh-food side gets its cold air from the freezer coil, so the cause is nearly always frost choking that coil after a defrost heater, defrost thermostat or control board fails, or a damper between the compartments that no longer opens.

A puddle on the floor

Water usually escapes because the defrost drain is plugged or frozen, a fitting on the dispenser’s water line has cracked, or a damaged gasket is letting humid air condense inside the cabinet. The repair targets the source of the water, not just the puddle.

No ice, no water

Ice and water problems usually come down to one of four parts: the fill tube (frozen), the water-inlet valve (failed), the filter (clogged) or the ice-maker module itself. Samsung, LG and Whirlpool dispensers are frequent examples.

Buzzing, clicking or never cycling off

Clicking from the bottom rear is often the start relay giving up; a rattle or whine can be the condenser or evaporator fan; and a fridge that never switches off has a cooling or airflow fault. Requests can be sent online at any hour. A request isn’t an appointment until we call or text you to confirm a time window of about three hours and the fridge’s make and model.

At your home, the technician tests the compressor and start relay, the fan motors, the whole defrost system, the thermostat and control board, the dampers, the gaskets and the ice and water lines, then explains the fault and gives you a written quote. Nothing is repaired until you approve it. The $89 + tax diagnostic is applied toward that repair; sealed-system faults (compressor or refrigerant) have a $159 + tax diagnostic and are quoted by phone.

A visit booked between 9 PM and 7 AM adds a flat $100 after-hours fee. Each completed repair comes with a written diagnostic report and a 3-month warranty on parts and labour, with the terms in writing.
