Dryer repair in Orléans

Laundry rooms in Orléans vary with the age of the house. Newer Avalon and Cardinal Creek homes often put the laundry upstairs or in a stacked unit, with the dryer exhaust routed up through the walls. In Convent Glen and Orléans Village, the dryer is more often in the basement. Each layout has its own weak points, and in both, a long or partly blocked vent often explains clothes that stay damp or a dryer that runs hot, so we check it on every call.

When a dryer vents through the roof, the exhaust has to carry lint upward, and the run usually includes several elbows. Lint settles at each bend and at the roof cap, which frost or snow can also block in winter. A screen should never be fitted over a dryer exhaust, because it catches lint and chokes the flow.

The signs are clothes still damp after a full cycle, a laundry room that gets hot, and a dryer that shuts itself off. We check the blower wheel, lint housing and flex hose, and if the restriction is in the roof run itself, we say so plainly so you can have it cleared.

Not heating. On electric models the culprit is usually the heating element, the thermal fuse or a thermostat; on gas models, the igniter or a gas valve coil. A vent blockage can blow the thermal fuse, so the heat circuit and the airflow are tested together.

Slow drying. Restricted airflow causes most of these calls, whether it is lint in the duct, a hose squashed behind the machine or a blower wheel that has worn out. It wastes energy and raises fire risk. The dryer takes too long to dry guide covers it in depth.

No spin or a loud drum. Belts, idler pulleys and drum rollers wear out and either snap or start to thump and squeal. See dryer making noise.

Won’t start or stops early. Any of the switches in the start circuit, the thermal fuse or the control board. The technician pinpoints which one and quotes it in writing before starting.
