Washer and washing machine repair in Kanata

Kanata’s laundry rooms split roughly by age. The newer builds lean toward high-efficiency front-loaders, often on the main or upper floor, while the older streets of Beaverbrook and Glen Cairn still have plenty of full-size top-loaders in the basement. The two fail in different ways, so they are covered separately below.

Codes vary by model, and one code can have several causes. Leaks rarely show a code at all, so catching one early is what protects the floor and subfloor. Write down exactly what the display shows when you book; the technician then tests the system it points to before quoting a part.

Front-loaders save water and energy, but they are less forgiving. The pump filter behind the small front panel catches coins, hair ties and lint, and a blocked filter is the most common reason one stops draining. The rubber door boot holds water in its folds; when it tears, the machine leaks at the door, and when it stays damp it grows mould and smells. Door locks fail more often than people expect and stop the cycle before it starts.

A traditional top-loader with a centre agitator is the simpler machine. When it fills but won’t agitate, the cause is usually a broken motor coupler, worn agitator dogs, a lid switch or a drive belt. These are modest parts, which is why many older Beaverbrook and Glen Cairn machines are worth keeping.

High-efficiency top-loaders use a low impeller plate instead. They weigh the load, add only a little water and take longer, which owners sometimes mistake for a fault. Real problems include a lid lock that won’t engage, a shifter or drive fault, and repeated unbalanced-load stops from worn suspension rods. Our top-load washer repair page explains both designs.

The $89 + tax residential diagnostic counts toward the repair if you go ahead, and you get a written report afterwards. Repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour. If you need a visit between 9 PM and 7 AM, a $100 flat after-hours fee is added.
