Washer not draining in Ottawa? Diagnosis and repair

LG washer (OE, IE, FE)

Samsung washer (5C, SC, 5E, nd)

Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid (F9 E1, F8)

Bosch (E18, E23)

E18 is the drain error; on many models E23 means water has collected in the base. Debris often collects in the filter sump of Bosch front-loaders, so clean the filter first and replace the pump if the code persists.

A washer that drains slowly typically progresses to one that doesn’t drain at all within weeks. A pump that keeps straining against a blockage can burn out, water left standing in the tub turns sour and grows mould, and a drain fault left running will trip the same error again within a cycle or two. A filter clean-out or a pump replacement now costs far less than a bigger repair later, so the “wait and see” approach almost always costs more.
