Burner clicks but won’t light

The spark igniter may be wet or cracked after a boil-over, the burner cap may be sitting crooked, or the ports may be clogged with food. If the clicking never stops, moisture in the igniter switch or a failing spark module is the usual cause.

Weak, uneven or yellow flames

Partly blocked ports and misaligned burner heads make a flame lift, flicker or burn yellow. Cleaning and realigning the burner parts usually brings back a steady blue flame.

Gas oven slow to light or not heating

Most gas ovens use a glow-bar igniter that must draw enough current to open the oven safety valve. As it ages it still glows but never gets hot enough, so the oven takes ages to light or never does. Replacing the igniter restores reliable ignition; see oven not igniting.
