Stove and oven repair in Kanata

Kanata’s ranges follow its building history. The newer homes in Kanata Lakes and Trailwest mostly have slide-in electric and induction ranges with touch controls. Many Bridlewood and Morgan’s Grant homes cook on gas. The older streets of Beaverbrook and Glen Cairn still have plenty of coil-element stoves, some of them original to the house.

Each type fails differently. Touch-control and induction ranges tend to throw an error code or stop responding when a sensor, keypad or power board fails. Gas ranges mostly need igniters, spark modules or a burner cleaning. Coil stoves wear out elements, receptacles and infinite switches, which are some of the least expensive range repairs there are.

When an electric oven won’t heat, the usual culprit is a failed bake or broil element; on a gas oven it is more often a burned-out igniter. An oven that heats but won’t hold the set temperature points to the temperature sensor or the control board. The technician tests the whole heat circuit, from the element or igniter through the sensor to the board relay, and replaces only the part that has failed.

Self-clean is the other big source of oven calls. The cycle runs far hotter than any baking setting, and it often blows a thermal fuse or leaves the latch motor stuck, so the door stays locked or the oven goes dead. A door that no longer seals or latches properly is also repairable, and fixing it helps the oven hold temperature again. A stove burner not working is our most common range call. On an electric range, look first at the element itself: coils burn through, receptacles scorch, and radiant elements under a glass top crack or open-circuit. The infinite switch behind the knob is the other suspect. On a gas cooktop, food in the burner ports or a failed spark igniter keeps the flame from catching.

When a range shows an F-code, the touch panel freezes or the whole unit won’t power on, the cause is usually the electronic control board, the membrane keypad, or a loose or burnt wire. We read the code for your model, confirm the cause with a meter, and quote the repair in writing before any work.
