LG dryer repair in Ottawa

LG builds vented and ventless dryers, gas and electric, and most current models add steam or Wi-Fi features on top of the same basic layout of drum, heater, belt and sensors. We work on TurboSteam and SteamSense models and can use LG’s SmartDiagnosis and the ThinQ app as part of the diagnosis.

Have the model number ready when you book; on most LG dryers it is on a label inside the door opening or on the back panel. With the model and the symptom in hand, the technician can prepare for the parts that fault usually needs.

Two points are worth knowing. A blown thermal fuse is usually a symptom, not the root cause: it opens when the dryer overheats, most often because the vent is partly blocked, so we check the airflow before replacing it. And a dryer that needs two or three cycles is far more often a vent or moisture-sensor problem than a failed heater. LG dryers show a code when one of their self-checks fails. The ones we see most:

• tE: thermistor (temperature sensor) fault.
• HE: heater fault.
• d80, d90, d95: LG’s FlowSense duct-restriction warnings; the number rises as the vent gets more blocked.
• dE: door open or door-switch fault.
• AE, F1, OE: less common codes that some LG models use for communication, sensor or overheating faults; the meaning depends on the model, so the technician checks it against yours.
• PS: power-supply or power-switch fault.

A code tells the technician where to start, not which part to buy. Meanings can differ between model years, so each one is confirmed with a test before anything is replaced. If the display shows d80 or higher, clean the lint filter and check that the outside vent flap opens freely: the warning returns until the airflow is fixed.

Gas dryers

Our gas work in Ontario is TSSA-certified. On LG gas dryers the usual no-heat parts are the igniter, the gas-valve solenoid coils and the flame sensor, with the igniter the most common of the three. TurboSteam and SteamSense

Steam-cycle LG dryers add a water inlet valve, a steam generator and a water-feed line to the standard platform. When steam cycles stop working, or the dryer reports a water-supply problem, we test the valve, the generator and the feed line along with the usual heating and drum parts.

Ventless heat-pump dryers

LG’s DLHC ventless dryers reuse their heat through a sealed refrigerant loop instead of venting outdoors. Long dry times on these models usually start with clogged lint filters or a dirty heat exchanger, which we clean and check first. A fault inside the sealed loop needs the separate $159 + tax sealed-system diagnostic, and that labour is quoted by phone.

The residential diagnostic is $89 + tax; gas dryers and commercial clients such as restaurants and multi-unit buildings are $129 + tax. Either fee covers the full on-site diagnosis and a written repair quote, and the $89 residential fee is applied toward the repair when you go ahead. Parts and labour are billed only if you approve that quote.

As a guide, not a quote: most LG dryer repairs land between about $160 and $440 plus parts. Heating-element replacements sit at the lower end; bearing, roller and drum work at the upper end.
