Samsung dryer repair in Ottawa

Electric models

On an electric Samsung the usual causes are the heating element, the thermal fuse or the high-limit thermostat. The element simply wears out; the thermal fuse, though, usually opens for a reason, most often a lint-restricted vent that let the dryer overheat. We replace the failed part and check the venting so the new fuse does not blow again.

Gas models

On gas Samsung dryers the igniter is the most common failure, followed by the gas-valve coils and the flame sensor. Gas repairs on the Ontario side are done under our TSSA certification, and gas dryers are diagnosed at $129 + tax. If you smell gas, leave the home and call Enbridge (Gazifère on the Gatineau side) or 911 from outside. Either repair can often be finished in one visit when the part is a common one. The mechanical faults on Samsung dryers follow a familiar pattern:

• Not tumbling: a broken drive belt, a worn idler pulley or, less often, the motor. We replace the belt and pulley as a kit.
• Squealing or scraping: the drum bearing, the idler pulley or the rear felt seal. A bearing kit with a new felt seal is the usual repair.
• Overheating or shutting off: restricted venting or a failed high-limit thermostat. Clearing the vent restriction comes first; the thermostat is replaced if it tests bad.
• Takes too long to dry: a clogged lint filter, a blocked vent or a coated moisture sensor. Cleaning the vent and the sensor bars often solves it.

Samsung dryers report faults as two-letter codes, and many have a second form (tE or tC, for example) depending on the model year:

• tE / tC: thermistor (temperature sensor) fault.
• HE / HC: heater fault.
• dE / dC: door circuit.
• bE / bC: stuck button or control-board issue.
• OD: over-dry sensor (on some models).
• AE / AC: communication error between boards.
• F9: fuse or overheat protection (on some models).

Mention the code when booking; it helps the technician prepare for the likely sensor, heater or board. The code is only the starting point: the part is confirmed by testing it before it is replaced.

MultiSteam models add a steam generator and a water valve to the usual dryer parts. If steam cycles stop, we check the water supply, the valve and the generator before looking further.

Heat-pump dryers such as the DV90T are a different platform. Instead of a heating element they dry with a sealed refrigerant loop, a condenser fan and an inverter board. They use less energy, but their parts cost more, so we always quote before proceeding. A fault in the refrigerant loop is sealed-system work: it calls for the $159 + tax sealed-system diagnostic, with the labour priced over the phone.

Homes pay $89 + tax for the diagnostic visit; gas dryers and businesses (restaurants, multi-unit buildings) pay $129 + tax. The visit includes the on-site diagnosis and a fixed-price quote in writing, and the $89 residential fee comes off the repair if you approve it. Parts and labour are billed only after that approval, and a 3-month warranty applies to both.

As a guide, Samsung dryer repairs usually run from about $160 to $420 plus parts; element replacements on electric dryers and igniter replacements on gas dryers sit at the lower end.
