Short answer

A Bosch oven that won’t heat, drifts off temperature or shows an E-code usually has one failed part: a bake or convection ring element, the temperature sensor, a thermal cut-out, the door-lock motor or the control module. B&M Canada Appliances has repaired Bosch wall ovens and ranges in Ottawa and Gatineau since 1995. We test each component on site and quote the repair in writing before any work begins.

01What is it doing?

Common Bosch oven & range problems

Each guide explains what the symptom usually points to and what is safe to check yourself. Ready to book? Pick the symptom and it is filled in for you.

02Before you book

Safe checks first

Five minutes that sometimes save a visit, and always make it faster. Skip anything you are not comfortable doing.

  1. Reset at the breakerSwitch the oven off at the breaker for two minutes. A one-time E-code caused by a control glitch often clears after a reset.
  2. Rule out child lock and demo modeA locked control panel or an oven left in demo mode can look like a dead oven. Check the display for a lock or demo indicator first.
  3. Check the door sealMake sure the door shuts flush and the gasket is intact. Bosch ovens lose temperature accuracy when the seal leaks heat.
  4. Let a self-clean cool downAfter a pyrolytic clean the door stays locked until the cavity has cooled completely. Give it time before deciding the lock has failed.

Stop using it if you notice

  • Scorch marks or a burning smell
  • Exposed or melted wiring
  • Sparking inside the oven or at the controls
  • Any smell of gas on a gas or dual-fuel range

Keep the oven switched off at the breaker. If you smell gas, leave the home and call Enbridge Gas (Ontario), Gazifère (Gatineau) or 911 from outside. Then call 613-301-0016.

03Common problems

Common Bosch oven problems we fix

Bosch ovens are precise, and most faults trace back to one component rather than the whole control system. These are the problems we see most often on Bosch wall ovens and slide-in ranges in Ottawa and Gatineau.

Oven won’t heat

A failed bake element, a burnt-out convection ring element, an open temperature sensor or a tripped thermal cut-out leaves the cavity cold. We test each part for continuity and resistance and replace only the one that failed. Our oven not heating Ottawa guide covers the same symptoms across all brands.

“E” error codes

E011 usually means a control button has been held down or has shorted, and E305 and related codes are commonly linked to a temperature-sensor fault. Code meanings vary by model and generation, so we read the code on site and confirm whether the sensor, its wiring or the control module is responsible.

Temperature drift

Food that browns unevenly or takes longer than the recipe says usually means the temperature sensor is reading out of range. We measure its resistance against the specification before replacing it, and we check the door seal, since a leaking seal also skews the temperature. See oven temperature problems for other causes.

Self-clean lock stuck

A door that stays locked after a pyrolytic cleaning cycle points to the door-lock motor, its switch or a control relay that did not release. We release the door safely and fit the failed component. If self-clean won’t start at all, see oven self-clean not working.

Convection problems

A noisy or dead convection fan, or uneven results on convection modes, traces to the fan motor, its bearings or the ring element behind the rear panel. We restore even air circulation so multi-rack baking works again.

Control panel faults

An unresponsive touch panel or a flickering display is often the control module or the ribbon cable that connects it. We test both and replace only the part at fault.

04Models

Bosch oven models we service

We regularly repair Bosch Benchmark, 800 Series and 500 Series ovens, including the HBL, HBN, HBE and HBLP single and double wall-oven lines, and the oven cavity of Bosch slide-in ranges such as the HEI electric and HII induction series. Bosch’s modular controls make it possible to isolate a single failed sensor or relay, so you avoid paying for a control board that didn’t need replacing.

The model and production numbers (E-Nr and FD) are on the rating label around the oven opening, usually visible with the door open. Sharing them when you book helps the technician prepare for your model. For built-in units of any brand, see wall oven repair in Ottawa.

05Repair cost

Bosch oven repair cost in Ottawa

The visit starts with the $89 + tax residential diagnostic ($129 + tax for gas ranges), which covers the full diagnosis and is applied toward the repair if you go ahead. You receive a written quote and approve it before any work starts.

As a guide, not a quote, most Bosch oven repairs, such as a heating element, a temperature sensor or a door latch, land between about $190 and $450 including parts and labour. A control module usually costs more than a sensor or an element, and the quote tells you before you commit. For other brands and cooking appliances, see our oven repair cost guide.

06Visit steps

How a Bosch oven repair visit works

  1. Request a visit. Book online any time. A request is not yet an appointment: we call or text to confirm a time window of about three hours, with same-day visits when the schedule allows.
  2. Share the details. The model number, any E-code on the display and what the oven is doing help the technician arrive prepared.
  3. Diagnosis and written quote. The technician tests the oven, explains the fault in plain language and quotes the repair in writing. Nothing is done until you approve it.
  4. Repair and warranty. If a part has to be ordered, you get the timeline up front. Completed repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour (ask for the written terms), and you receive a written diagnostic report.

Visits between 9 PM and 7 AM add a $100 flat after-hours fee, and travel charges may apply more than 30 km from downtown Ottawa.

613-301-0016
How much does Bosch oven repair cost in Ottawa?

The $89 + tax residential diagnostic covers the on-site diagnosis and counts toward the repair when you approve it. Most Bosch oven repairs (a heating element, temperature sensor or door latch) land around $190–$450 with parts and labour, confirmed in a written quote before work starts and covered by a 3-month warranty.

What do Bosch oven error codes like E011 or E305 mean?

E011 typically flags a stuck or shorted control button, while E305 and similar codes point to the temperature sensor reading out of range. The exact meaning varies by model, so the technician confirms whether it is the sensor, the wiring or the control module before replacing anything.

Why is my Bosch wall oven not heating up?

Usually a failed bake or ring element, an open temperature sensor or a tripped thermal cut-out. We test element continuity and sensor resistance directly, so you replace only the failed component, not the whole control system.

Do you repair Bosch 800 and 500 Series wall ovens?

Yes. We service Bosch Benchmark, 800 Series and 500 Series single and double wall ovens (HBL, HBN and HBLP lines) and the oven on Bosch slide-in ranges, across Ottawa and Gatineau.

Can you fix a Bosch oven door that won’t unlock after self-clean?

Yes. Let the oven cool completely first; if the door still stays locked, the door-lock motor or a control relay has usually failed. We unlock the door safely and replace the faulty part so the oven is usable again.

Is same-day Bosch oven repair available in Gatineau?

Yes, when the schedule allows. We serve Gatineau, Hull and Aylmer as well as Ottawa; book online at any hour, and the visit is set once we confirm a roughly three-hour window with you.
