Oven and stove problems we fix in Newmarket

• Oven not heating, or heating slowly. A failed bake or broil element, a temperature sensor, a relay on the control board, or a thermal fuse.
• Oven temperature off. A drifting sensor or control. We check real temperatures against the set point.
• Coil burner not working. A burnt-out element, a loose or burnt terminal block, or a failed infinite switch.
• Glass or ceramic cooktop element not heating, or stuck on high. A failed radiant element, a limiter, or a switch or relay. Cracked glass is replaced as a full top where parts are available.
• Error codes and beeping. Common on Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG ranges. Codes point to a system, and we test before replacing parts.
• Door or self-clean lock stuck. A door lock motor or switch, often after a self-clean cycle.
• Convection fan not working. The fan motor or its control.

Freestanding ranges, wall ovens and cooktops

We work on freestanding and slide-in electric ranges, single and double wall ovens, and built-in electric and glass cooktops. Wall ovens and slide-ins sometimes need to be pulled out of the cabinet to reach the wiring. The technician will tell you before doing that. Induction cooktops can be diagnosed, but model-specific parts may take longer to arrive.

Before you book: safe checks

• Check the breaker. A range uses a double breaker, and a half-tripped one can leave some elements dead.
• Make sure the oven isn’t set to delay start, Sabbath mode or control lock.
• For a coil burner, try swapping it with a same-size burner to see if the fault follows the element.
• Don’t pull the range out or open panels while it’s plugged in.
• Write down the model number, usually inside the storage drawer or on the oven frame.

Repair or replace?

Elements, sensors, infinite switches and door locks are usually worth fixing. A cracked glass top or failed main control on an older range may cost close to a new one. We’ll give you the price first and tell you honestly.
