Short answer
When a KitchenAid oven stops heating, bakes unevenly or shows an F-code, the cause is usually a bake or broil element, a drifting oven sensor, the touchpad or control board, a self-clean door lock or a worn convection fan motor. B&M Canada Appliances has repaired KitchenAid wall ovens and ranges across Ottawa and Gatineau since 1995, and we quote the fix in writing before any work.

Safe checks first
Five minutes that sometimes save a visit, and always make it faster. Skip anything you are not comfortable doing.
- Power-cycle the ovenTurn the oven’s breaker off for two minutes, then back on. A one-time control glitch, including some F2 codes, can clear this way.
- Check for Sabbath or demo modeAn oven left in Sabbath or demo mode can light up but refuse to heat. Your owner’s manual shows how to exit either mode.
- Inspect the gasket and hingesIf the door doesn’t close fully or the gasket has slipped out of its track, heat escapes and baking goes off.
- Wait out the self-clean lockThe door stays latched until the cavity cools after self-clean. Let it cool completely before trying the door again.
Stop using it if you notice
- Scorching around the door or controls
- Bare or burnt wiring
- Sparks or arcing from an element
- A gas smell from a gas or dual-fuel range
Leave the oven off at the breaker. For a gas smell, get everyone outside and call Enbridge Gas in Ontario or Gazifère in Gatineau, or 911, from there. Then call 613-301-0016.
03Common problems
Common KitchenAid oven problems we fix
Oven won’t heat
A failed bake or broil element, a blown thermal fuse or an open oven sensor can leave the cavity cold. We test each component and replace what failed. For the same symptom on other brands, read our oven not heating Ottawa guide.
F2 and keypad errors
F2:E0 and F2:E1 codes signal a shorted touchpad, a keypad ribbon problem or a control-board fault. We check the ribbon connection and the board on site before deciding which part to replace.
Inaccurate temperature
Burnt edges or undercooked centres usually mean a drifting RTD oven sensor or a weak convection element. On most Whirlpool-platform ovens the sensor reads about 1,090 ohms at room temperature, and an F3-family code on many models points to the sensor circuit. We verify resistance values before replacing anything. More causes are in our oven temperature problems guide.
Self-clean won’t unlock
A door stuck locked after self-clean, often with an F5 code, points to the lock motor, its switch or a relay. We release it safely and replace the faulty part; see oven self-clean not working for related faults.
Convection fan noise
Grinding or rattling from the convection fan is usually a worn motor bearing. We replace the motor so EasyConvect and true-convection baking work evenly again.
Door and hinge issues
A sagging door or a broken hinge leaks heat and skews cooking. We rebuild or replace the hinges and re-seat the door gasket.
04Models
KitchenAid wall ovens and ranges we service
KitchenAid ovens share the Whirlpool control platform, which keeps parts widely available. We regularly repair:
- Double wall ovens: KODE
- Single wall ovens: KOSE, KOST and KOSC
- Freestanding and slide-in ranges: KFEG and KSEG electric, KSGB and KFGG gas
Whether yours is a built-in combination oven or a 30-inch range, the technician tests the elements, sensor and controls before recommending any part; giving us the model number when you book helps us prepare. Other built-in brands are covered on our wall oven repair page.
05Repair cost
What a KitchenAid oven repair costs
Every visit begins with the $89 + tax residential diagnostic, or $129 + tax for a gas range. It covers the full diagnosis, and it is applied toward the repair when you approve it. The technician explains the fault and gives you a written quote first.
Most KitchenAid oven repairs, such as a bake element, an oven temperature sensor or a door hinge, fall roughly in the $180–$420 range including parts and labour; treat that as a guide rather than a quote. Finished repairs are warranted for 3 months, parts and labour, with written terms on request, and a written diagnostic report follows the visit. Compare typical prices in our oven repair cost guide.
06Before the visit
Getting ready for your KitchenAid oven repair
A few details make the visit faster. Note the code on the display (for example F2:E1 or an F5 code), what the oven was doing when it failed, and the model and serial number, which on most KitchenAid wall ovens are on a plate on the oven frame, visible with the door open. On ranges, check behind the storage drawer.
Online requests are accepted any time. We call or text to confirm a window of about three hours, and same-day visits are possible when the schedule allows. Appointments between 9 PM and 7 AM carry a $100 flat after-hours fee, and travel charges may apply beyond 30 km from downtown Ottawa.

How much does KitchenAid oven repair cost in Ottawa?
Expect the $89 + tax residential diagnostic first ($129 + tax for gas); it covers the on-site diagnosis and goes toward the repair you approve. Most KitchenAid oven repairs, such as a bake element, temperature sensor or door hinge, fall around $180–$420 including parts and labour, and the written quote confirms the exact price.
What does the F2:E0 or F2:E1 error mean on my KitchenAid oven?
These codes point to a stuck or shorted keypad, its ribbon connection or a failing control board. A two-minute power-off at the breaker sometimes clears a one-time glitch; if the code returns, the touchpad or board usually needs replacing.
Why is my KitchenAid oven not heating to the right temperature?
Uneven or inaccurate baking is most often a worn bake element, a drifting RTD sensor or a weakening convection element. We test sensor resistance and element continuity on site, so you pay only for the part that actually failed.
Do you repair KitchenAid wall ovens and double ovens?
Yes. We service KitchenAid single and double wall ovens (KODE, KOSE and KOST series) as well as the oven cavity on KitchenAid slide-in and freestanding ranges, in Ottawa and Gatineau homes.
Can you fix a KitchenAid oven stuck in self-clean lock?
Yes. A door that stays locked after the oven has cooled, often with an F5-family code, usually has a failed door-lock motor or control relay. We release the lock safely and replace the faulty component.
Do you offer same-day KitchenAid oven repair in Gatineau?
Same-day visits are possible on both sides of the river when the schedule allows. Send a request any time; we call or text to confirm a time window, and service is available in French.
