A washer that stops mid-cycle with the tub full is one of the most stressful breakdowns and one of the most fixable. The drain path is the usual culprit: a sock or coin lodged in the pump, a clogged filter, a kinked hose or a worn drain pump. For leaks we follow the water to its source, whether that is the door boot, the fill hoses, the detergent dispenser, the pump or the tub seal, and repair it properly rather than patching it. Top-load, front-load, compact and stacked washers and washer-dryer combos are all covered.

Dishwasher puddles and standing water

Water on the floor, a gritty film or dirty dishes can nearly always be pinned on one part. We look at the filter and sump, the drain pump and its hose, the spray arms, the inlet valve, the heating element and the door seal. Common fixes are drain and circulation pumps, inlet valves, door gaskets, float switches and cleared drain paths, on built-in, panel-ready and compact models from most major brands.

Water under the fridge

Fridge running warm

A warm refrigerator is rarely a dead refrigerator; one part of the cooling cycle has usually failed. We test the defrost parts (heater, bi-metal thermostat, sensor, timer or board), both fans, the start relay and the controls. Ice over the coil behind the freezer panel is a frequent finding and usually points to a defrost fault that can often be fixed on the first visit. Dryer not drying

When clothes come out damp, airflow and heat come first. Usual causes are a blown thermal fuse (often from a blocked vent), a burnt-out heating element, a failed thermostat, or on gas dryers a failed igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coil. We let you know when the vent needs cleaning.

Oven slow to preheat or not heating

If the oven is slow to preheat, bakes unevenly or stays cold, the usual suspects are the bake or broil element, the temperature sensor, a relay stuck on the control board, or a door lock still engaged from a self-clean cycle. On gas ranges, ovens and cooktops, our TSSA-certified technicians handle burners that refuse to light, igniters that keep clicking, flames that are weak or uneven and gas ovens that won’t heat.

Loud banging during a washer’s spin usually means worn shock absorbers, suspension springs or drum bearings; a drum that won’t spin at all sends us to the belt, motor coupler, door lock or lid switch and motor control board. Squeaking, grinding or thumping from a dryer usually comes from worn drum rollers, the belt or the idler pulley, parts that are usually simple to replace, and a dryer that won’t start at all typically has a failed door switch, start switch, thermal fuse or control board. We repair gas and electric dryers, including stacked and compact units.

A dishwasher that won’t start gets its control board and door latch tested; if it shows a code or beeps a pattern, tell us when you book. Cooktop faults we fix include elements that have died, infinite switches that have failed, glass-top controls that ignore your touch and induction zones that won’t detect a pot, on gas, electric and induction ranges, stoves, wall ovens and cooktops, freestanding, slide-in or built-in.

Over-the-range microwaves double as the hood, so a failure stops both. Typical microwave repairs are the magnetron, the high-voltage diode or capacitor, door switches, the turntable motor, the exhaust fan and the control board; on standalone range hoods, it is usually the fan, the lights or the switches. With a countertop unit, you get an honest answer about whether repair is worth it.

5. Warranty. A written diagnostic report follows, and every repair carries a 3-month warranty on parts and labour.
