Appliance repair in Carp, Ontario

Many Carp and West Carleton homes run a second fridge or a chest freezer in the garage, the workshop or the basement. When the main fridge warms up, the usual culprits are a defrost fault that has iced over the evaporator coil (a failed heater, thermostat or sensor), a stalled evaporator or condenser fan, a condenser coil caked with dust, or a failing start relay or control board. Garage fridges have a problem of their own. Farm and family laundry is hard on washers. A machine that stops with water in the tub usually has a blocked pump filter, a kinked drain hose or a worn drain pump. One that fills slowly on a well often has sediment packed into the inlet valve screens, and iron in the water can stain the tub and the filter. Spin problems point to the belt, door lock or lid switch, suspension or the motor control. If you see OE, 5C, F21, E21 or another code on the display, pass it on when you book so the matching part comes along.

Dryers in larger estate homes often vent through long runs to an outside wall, and rural vent hoods with screens or critter guards clog with lint quickly. Restricted airflow makes the dryer run hot, blows thermal fuses and can double drying times, so the technician checks the vent before condemning any dryer part. On the machine itself we replace heating elements, thermal fuses, cycling and high-limit thermostats, belts, rollers and idler pulleys. Gas dryers are handled by our TSSA-certified technicians. Some West Carleton kitchens cook on propane rather than natural gas, so tell us the fuel type when you book; we confirm then whether we can take a propane job. On natural-gas ranges, our TSSA-certified technicians handle the gas side: a burner that refuses to light, an igniter that keeps clicking after the flame catches, a flame that is weak, yellow or uneven, or a gas oven that never comes up to temperature. On electric and induction ranges we replace bake and broil elements, temperature sensors, infinite switches, door locks after a stuck self-clean, and failed touch controls.

Rural power blips and generator changeovers can damage the electronic control boards in ranges, dishwashers and front-load washers. If a board has burnt out, the technician also looks for a cause such as a loose supply connection, and where outages are frequent, a whole-home surge protector installed by an electrician is worth considering.

Well water is the other big factor. Hard water leaves a white film on glasses, scale on the heating element and spray arms, and deposits in the inlet valve, so a dishwasher that cleaned well for years slowly stops doing so. We clear the drain path, replace pumps, valves, gaskets and latches as needed, and explain how a rinse aid or softener setting helps.

Range hoods that barely pull usually have grease-loaded filters or a tired motor or capacitor; we also replace failed light sockets, switches and controls. Over-the-range microwaves that hum without heating, spark, or have a dead turntable or exhaust fan can usually be repaired, while a countertop unit is often cheaper to replace, and we will tell you which applies.
