Appliance repair across Clarence-Rockland

When a fridge stops cooling or a washer floods the laundry room, you need a repair team that actually covers Prescott-Russell. Clarence-Rockland sits just east of Ottawa along the Ottawa River, and we work right across it: near the Rockland waterfront, out in the rural stretches around Clarence Creek, and in the newer subdivisions off Laurier Street.

Because Clarence-Rockland is more than 30 km from downtown Ottawa, a travel charge may apply to cover the extra distance. If one applies, we tell you the amount when you book. Service is available in English and French, and we repair Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Bosch, Miele, Electrolux and other brands.

We cover the rest of the eastern corridor too: Casselman and Limoges to the south, Bourget inland, Alfred & Plantagenet east along Highway 17, and farther east, Hawkesbury on the river and Vankleek Hill just south of it. Closer to the city, our Ottawa appliance repair service and Gatineau appliance repair service handle the urban core and the Quebec side of the river.

03Diagnostic fees

Transparent, honest pricing

The diagnostic is a flat $89 + tax for a residential service call. For gas appliances (gas stoves, ranges, ovens, cooktops and dryers) and for commercial equipment, it is $129 + tax, because gas work requires certified handling. Either fee covers a full inspection and a clear written quote, and it is applied toward the repair when you approve it. There is no “free” gimmick here, just a fair, upfront fee and a repair price you agree to before we start.

Need help late? Visits between 9 PM and 7 AM include a $100 flat after-hours fee on top of regular rates; see emergency appliance repair for how those calls work. Our appliance repair cost guide shows typical prices for common repairs.

05Local homes

Common appliance problems in Clarence-Rockland homes

Rural and semi-rural properties around Clarence-Rockland often run on well water, which is harder on dishwashers and washing machines: minerals build up in inlet valves and spray arms over time, until fills slow down and dishes come out spotted. Older homes near the Ottawa River may have appliances on aging circuits that struggle with modern high-draw dryers and ranges; if the fault turns out to be the household wiring rather than the appliance, the technician will tell you.

We also see a lot of failed door seals on garage and basement freezers that work overtime through humid summers, and dryer vents that clog because of long duct runs in larger country homes. Whatever the cause, we diagnose the root issue rather than just treating the symptom, so the repair addresses what actually failed.

Homes close to the river can also take on basement water during spring high water. A washer, dryer or freezer that has stood in water should stay unplugged until it has been checked: water reaches motors, wiring and control boards, and switching it back on too soon can turn a cleanup into a replacement.

A broken appliance only gets worse. A fridge that is slowly warming can spoil a full load of groceries overnight, a leaking washer can damage floors and the ceiling below, and a dryer that runs hot but won’t dry is a fire risk. The sooner it is diagnosed, the cheaper and safer the fix.

06Symptoms and causes

Fridge, freezer and laundry repair in Clarence-Rockland

Whatever has stopped working, the process is the same: a technician tests the appliance, finds the failed part, shows you what is wrong and quotes the repair in writing before touching anything. These are the faults we find most often.

SymptomWhat the technician usually finds
Fridge warm, frost on the freezer’s back panelA defrost fault: heater, bi-metal thermostat, sensor, or timer or board, often repairable on the spot
Fridge warm, no frostStopped evaporator or condenser fan, failed start relay or controls
Water under the crisper drawersBlocked or frozen defrost drain, leaking water valve
Ice maker slow or emptyFill valve, water line or ice-maker assembly
Fridge or freezer noisyWorn fan motor, noisy water valve, straining compressor
Washer full of waterSock or coin in the pump, clogged filter, kinked hose, worn drain pump
Washer won’t spinBelt, motor coupler, door lock or lid switch, motor control board
Washer bangs on spinShock absorbers, suspension springs, drum bearings
Dryer runs, clothes still dampBlocked vent and blown thermal fuse, heating element or thermostat; on gas models, igniter, flame sensor or valve coil
Dryer completely deadDoor switch, start switch, thermal fuse, control board
Dryer squeaks, grinds or thumpsDrum rollers, belt, idler pulley

We repair refrigerators of every layout (French-door, side-by-side, top or bottom freezer, built-in or panel-ready), upright and chest freezers, top-load, front-load, compact and stacked washers and washer-dryer combos, and gas and electric dryers, including stacked and compact units. Worn door gaskets that let warm air in are a common, inexpensive fix. Leaks are traced to wherever they start, from the door bellows and fill hoses to the dispenser, pump or tub seal, and repaired properly instead of patched. Compressor or refrigerant faults need a sealed-system diagnostic at $159 + tax, with the repair quoted by phone, and an honest opinion on whether an older unit deserves it. On every dryer call, we also tell you if the vent needs cleaning.

07Kitchen repairs

Dishwasher, stove, oven and range hood repair in Clarence-Rockland

Dishwashers

Standing water, a gritty film, a puddle by the door or dishes that come out dirty all have a findable cause. We check the filter, sump, drain pump and hose first, then the spray arms, the inlet valve, the element and the door seal; if the machine won’t start at all, the control board and door latch. The parts we replace most often are pumps (drain and circulation), inlet valves, gaskets and latches, heating elements and float switches, and we clear blockages from the drain path. On well water, scale on the element and in the spray arms is part of the check. Mention any error code or beep pattern in your request.

Stoves, ovens and cooktops

Ovens that preheat slowly, bake unevenly or won’t heat usually need a bake or broil element, a temperature sensor, a control-board relay or a self-clean door lock that didn’t release. Cooktop work covers dead elements, sticking infinite switches, unresponsive or cracked glass-top controls and induction zones that won’t recognise a pan. Gas, electric and induction ranges, stoves, wall ovens and cooktops are all covered, in freestanding, slide-in and built-in styles. Gas units are handled by TSSA-certified technicians, who fix burners that won’t light, igniters that click without stopping, weak or uneven flames and gas ovens that stay cold.

Gas odour in the kitchen? Leave the home, and from outside call Enbridge Gas’s emergency number, or your propane supplier on a propane property, before anything else.

Range hoods and microwaves

Over-the-range microwaves handle cooking and ventilation, so one failure takes out both. Most microwave faults come down to the magnetron, a high-voltage diode or capacitor, a door switch, the turntable motor, the exhaust fan or a control board; standalone hoods usually need a fan, light or switch. For a countertop microwave, we’ll be straight with you about whether it is worth repairing.

08Quick checks

Simple checks before you book

A few safe checks can save a visit, or at least help the technician arrive with the right parts. None of them involves opening the appliance.

  • Look at the electrical panel. Electric dryers and ranges sit on a double breaker, and a tripped one makes the appliance look dead.
  • If the washer won’t fill, confirm both supply taps behind it are fully open and the hoses aren’t pinched against the wall.
  • Empty the dryer’s lint screen, then go outside and watch whether the vent flap opens while it runs.
  • Rinse the dishwasher filter and make sure the drain hose under the sink has no kink.
  • For a warm fridge, check the temperature dial and move any food blocking the vents between the freezer and fresh-food sections.
  • Note the model number from the rating plate and any error code on the display.

If you smell burning, see sparks or find water near an outlet, stop using the appliance and unplug it only if you can do so safely.

What to expect when our technician arrives

  1. Send a request online or call. We get back to you by call or text with a time window of roughly three hours; until then, the request isn’t an appointment.

  3. You get a plain-language explanation of what is wrong and a written quote. Nothing is repaired until you approve it.
  4. If a special-order part is needed, we tell you the timeline and book a return visit.
