02Problems
Oven faults we diagnose and repair
- Not heating: burners, igniters, gas valves, heating elements or the control board.
- Inconsistent temperature: thermostats, thermocouples, RTD probes, blower-motor calibration and the door seal.
- Burner won’t light: spark electrodes, hot-surface igniters, gas pressure and safety switches.
- Blower or convection fan: motor, capacitor, fan blade, bearings and drive belt.
- Control panel or PLC errors: display faults, error codes, communication failures and touchscreen replacement.
- Door problems: hinges, gaskets, glass and latch alignment.
- Steam injection on combi ovens: steam generator, water inlet valve, scale buildup and the mineral filter.
- Pilot light won’t stay lit: thermocouple, gas pressure and pilot orifice cleaning.
On combi ovens, scale is behind many steam faults. Running the descaling cycle on the manufacturer’s schedule and changing the water filter when due helps prevent many of them.
If you smell gas, don’t try to relight the oven or operate switches. Leave the building and call the gas utility, or 911, from outside: Enbridge Gas in Ontario, Gazifère in Gatineau and the Outaouais.

How we handle a down oven
- Phone-first triage. We take the make and model, the symptom and when your next service starts, which helps us bring the right parts. A call or text from us confirms the time window, and a same-day slot is possible if the schedule has room.
- On-site assessment. A full diagnostic covers the burner train, ignition system, heating elements, controls, doors and ventilation, followed by a written quote that separates parts and labour.
- Repair, the same day when possible. Igniters, blower motors, control boards and gas valves are the parts commercial ovens most often need. When the part is common, the repair is often finished that day; otherwise the part is ordered and we come back to install it.
- Written report and warranty. A report on the work performed, suited to insurance, landlord-tenant and chain-account audits, and a 3-month warranty on parts and labour.
04Gas and pricing
Gas oven work and commercial pricing
Gas ovens in Ontario are serviced by our TSSA-certified technicians; for a gas oven in Gatineau or elsewhere in Quebec, gas service is confirmed at booking. If the visit shows that a gas line needs replacing or new piping is required, we tell you before any billable work, since that is not part of an oven repair.
A diagnostic visit is billed at the commercial rate of $129 + tax. An overnight call between 9 PM and 7 AM adds a flat $100, and ovens more than 30 km from downtown Ottawa may carry a travel charge, which we quote first.

Yes: Rational, Convotherm, Alto-Shaam and Henny Penny combi ovens and other conventional combi units, including the steam generator, controls, door, blower and ignition system. We work on most major commercial oven brands sold in Canada.
Are you TSSA-certified for gas ovens?
Yes, for gas appliance work in Ontario, commercial gas ovens included. For a gas oven on the Quebec side, gas service is confirmed when you book.
