Short answer

Looking for appliance repair in Carleton Place? We repair refrigerators and freezers, washers, electric and gas dryers, dishwashers, stoves and ovens, cooktops, microwaves and range hoods across Carleton Place, Beckwith Township, Ashton and Appleton, for most major brands. Carleton Place is outside our 30 km core zone around downtown Ottawa, so a travel charge may apply; it is confirmed when you book. Every repair is quoted in writing before work begins.

02Every appliance

Every major appliance, fixed in Carleton Place

B&M Canada Appliances services the full kitchen and laundry line-up in Carleton Place: refrigerators and freezers, washers and dryers (electric and gas), dishwashers, stoves, ovens and cooktops, range hoods and microwaves. One request covers whichever appliance quit, and if two need attention, mention both when you book so the technician can plan for them.

Typical calls from Carleton Place homes: fridges that start warming up in summer, dryers that need two cycles to finish a load, dishwashers that stop draining, and oven elements that burn out just before a family dinner.

Most of those have a simple explanation. A fridge struggles in July when its condenser coil is coated in dust or the condenser fan underneath has slowed; a dryer that needs two cycles usually has a lint-choked vent rather than a bad heater; and a dishwasher that holds water often has a blocked filter or drain hose. The technician confirms the real cause before quoting, so you don’t pay for parts the appliance doesn’t need.

We repair Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Bosch, Miele and other major brands, and we can also handle appliance installation when a replacement is the better choice.

03Highway 7 corridor

Carleton Place appliance repair along the Highway 7 corridor

We cover all of Carleton Place, from the Mississippi River waterfront to the newer subdivisions off McNeely Avenue, plus the surrounding communities of Beckwith Township, Ashton and Appleton. Coming from Ottawa, Carleton Place is the next town along Highway 7 after Stittsville and Kanata, and we also cover Almonte, Mississippi Mills and the rest of Lanark County.

A same-day visit is possible if the schedule allows. Booking online sends us a request, not an appointment: the visit is set once we call or text to agree on a window of about three hours. Service is available in English and French. For every community we cover, see all Ottawa and Gatineau service areas.

04Pricing and travel

Pricing and travel for Carleton Place

The diagnostic visit is $89 + tax for residential appliances and $129 + tax for gas appliances and commercial units. It covers the visit and the full diagnosis, ends with a written quote, and is applied toward the repair if you approve it. Carleton Place sits outside our core 30 km Ottawa zone, so a travel charge may apply; we confirm it up front when you book.

Visits between 9 PM and 7 AM add a $100 flat after-hours fee. For what common repairs usually cost, see the appliance repair cost guide.

05Why B&M

Why Carleton Place homeowners call B&M

We have repaired appliances in the Ottawa Valley since 1995, more than 30 years. Gas work is done by TSSA-certified technicians, and every repair is backed by a 3-month warranty on parts and labour; ask for the written terms. You get a confirmed arrival window, a technician who explains the fault in plain language, and a written price before a single part is changed. After the visit, you also receive a written diagnostic report.

If an older appliance isn’t worth fixing, we say so plainly and you pay only the diagnostic. Our guide to repairing or replacing an appliance walks through the same decision.

06Fridges and freezers

Carleton Place fridges and freezers, symptom by symptom

Replacing a refrigerator is rarely necessary when it starts running warm; one part of the cooling system has usually given out. Here is what the technician tests for the complaints we hear most from Carleton Place kitchens:

  • Fridge warm, freezer frosted over: ice packed over the coil behind the freezer panel is one of the most frequent findings and usually means a defrost fault, so the heater, bi-metal thermostat, sensor and defrost timer or board are checked in turn. This kind of fault can often be repaired during the visit.
  • Warm in both compartments: the start relay, the controls, and the evaporator and condenser fans.
  • Water under the crisper drawers, or a dripping or noisy water valve: the technician traces where the water comes from and replaces the part that leaks.
  • Ice maker not filling or dispensing slowly: the ice maker and its water supply.
  • Warm air getting in, or a loud fan or compressor: worn door gaskets, the fan motors and the compressor.

We work on French-door, side-by-side, top-freezer, bottom-freezer, built-in and panel-ready refrigerators, and on upright and chest freezers. A compressor or refrigerant fault needs the sealed-system diagnostic ($159 + tax), the repair is quoted by phone, and on an older unit we say honestly whether it is worth the money. 07Washers and dryers

Carleton Place laundry: washer and dryer faults

Washers

  • Stopped mid-cycle full of water: stressful, but one of the most fixable faults. It is usually on the drain side: a coin or sock in the pump, a clogged filter, a kinked hose or a drain pump that has worn out.
  • Drum won’t spin: the drive belt and motor coupler, the door lock or lid switch, and the motor control board.
  • Banging during spin: worn shock absorbers, suspension springs or drum bearings.
  • Leaking: we find where the water really comes from (door boot, detergent dispenser, fill hoses, tub seal or pump) and repair that point properly instead of patching over it.
  • Filling slowly on well water: in rural homes outside town, sediment can build up in the inlet valve screens, so tell us if your home is on a well.

We service every washer layout: top-load and front-load, stacked, compact, and washer-dryer combos. See Carleton Place washer repair.

Dryers

  • Clothes still damp after a full cycle: airflow comes before heat. A blocked vent often blows the thermal fuse; otherwise the cause is usually a burnt-out heating element or a failed thermostat, or on a gas dryer the igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coil.
  • Won’t turn on: a door switch or start switch, the thermal fuse, or the control board.
  • Squeaking, grinding or thumping: drum rollers, the belt or the idler pulley; replacing them usually gives the dryer years more service.

Gas and electric dryers are both covered, stacked and compact units included, and we let you know when the vent needs cleaning. See Carleton Place dryer repair.

08Dishwashers and ranges

Dishwashers, stoves, ovens and microwaves in Carleton Place

Dishwashers

A dishwasher fault almost always has one specific cause, and the symptom points the technician to it:

  • Puddle on the floor: the door seal or gasket, the inlet valve, a pump or the float switch.
  • Gritty film or dirty dishes: the filter and sump, the spray arms, the circulation pump and the heating element.
  • Water left in the tub: the drain pump and hose, or a blockage somewhere in the drain path.
  • Won’t start: the door latch and the control board.

Built-in, compact and panel-ready models from most major brands are covered. If the display shows an error code or the machine beeps a pattern, put that in your request. See Carleton Place dishwasher repair.

Stoves and ovens

  • Slow to preheat, baking unevenly or not heating: the bake or broil element, the temperature sensor, a control-board relay that has stuck, or a door lock still engaged after self-clean.
  • Cooktop not working: a dead element, a stuck or failed infinite switch, cracked or unresponsive glass-top controls, or an induction zone that no longer detects the pan.
  • Gas burners or gas oven: burners that won’t light, igniters that keep clicking, weak or uneven flames and gas ovens that won’t heat, all handled by our TSSA-certified technicians.

Freestanding, slide-in and built-in models are all covered, whether gas, electric or induction: ranges, stoves, wall ovens and cooktops. See Carleton Place stove repair.

Smell gas? Get everyone out of the house first, then call Enbridge Gas’s emergency line (or your propane supplier, if the home runs on propane) from outside before booking any repair.

Microwaves and range hoods

Because an over-the-range microwave is also the range hood, one fault leaves the kitchen without both. We replace exhaust fans, control boards, door switches, turntable motors, magnetrons, and high-voltage capacitors and diodes in over-the-range and built-in models; standalone range hoods get their fans, lights and switches repaired. For a countertop microwave, you get a straight answer on whether repair is worth paying for.

Do you really come out to Carleton Place, or only central Ottawa?

We do come out. Carleton Place is part of our west-end coverage along with Stittsville, Kanata and Almonte, and a same-day visit is possible if the schedule allows. We call or text to confirm your time window.

Is there a travel fee?

A travel charge may apply because Carleton Place is beyond our 30 km core zone. If one applies, you get the figure when you book.

Can you fix my gas dryer or gas range?

Yes. Gas repairs are done by TSSA-certified technicians, and the gas appliance diagnostic is $129 + tax, applied toward the repair if you go ahead.

What if the appliance isn’t worth fixing?

We’ll say so. If the repair doesn’t make economic sense, you pay only the diagnostic and get our honest advice on replacement, and we can install the new unit when it arrives.

Do you serve the towns around Carleton Place?

Yes. See our pages for Almonte, Smiths Falls and Perth.
