Whirlpool Corporation also makes Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and Jenn-Air, plus Inglis in Canada, and it owns the Admiral brand. Many models across these badges share platforms, control boards and parts, so the diagnosis follows the same patterns whichever name is on the door.

• Whirlpool fridge not cooling: the defrost system, the evaporator fan or, less often, the compressor.
• Whirlpool washer F21 error code: a long-drain fault, usually a clogged drain pump; newer controls show it as F9 E1.
• Whirlpool dryer not heating: a blown thermal fuse, a failed heating element or a worn cycling thermostat.
• Whirlpool oven not heating: a failed bake or broil element.
• Whirlpool dishwasher not draining: the drain pump or the check valve.

When a Whirlpool fridge warms up, the cause is most often frost on the evaporator coil after a defrost heater, defrost thermostat or sensor fails, which chokes the airflow to the fresh-food section. A stalled evaporator or condenser fan gives similar symptoms. The technician tests each part rather than guessing. A drain code on a Whirlpool front-loader usually means a coin, sock or hair tie has reached the pump. Top-loaders that fill but won’t spin often have a worn shift actuator, lid lock or drive coupling; see washer not spinning. Whirlpool dishwashers that leave water in the tub usually have a clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or air gap, or a failed drain pump or check valve. Poor cleaning comes from blocked spray arms, a weak wash motor or a faulty inlet valve. Control and keypad faults show up as codes on the display. A Whirlpool oven that won’t heat usually has a burnt-out bake or broil element, a failed temperature sensor or, on gas models, a weak igniter.
