FURNACE REPAIR — OTTAWA & GATINEAU
Furnace Repair in Ottawa — Gas & Electric
At -25°C, a dead furnace is a genuine emergency — pipes freeze faster than most people expect. B&M Canada Appliances repairs gas and electric furnaces across Ottawa and Gatineau with TSSA-certified technicians, no-heat calls triaged first, and a written quote before any work.
Service call $89 + tax electric ($129 + tax gas-fired & commercial). 3-month warranty on parts and labour.

Heating Repair Built for Ottawa Winters
Ottawa furnaces run half the year, and the failure pattern is predictable: igniters and flame sensors foul, blower motors and capacitors tire, filters choke airflow until limit switches trip, and thermostats drift. Our technicians carry the common parts, diagnose with proper instruments rather than parts-cannon guessing, and put every quote in writing before the repair starts.
Gas work — igniters, valves, venting, combustion — is handled exclusively by TSSA-certified technicians, with combustion and venting safety checks on every gas-furnace visit.
Furnace Faults We See Most
No heat at all
Failed igniters and flame sensors lead the winter list, followed by blower capacitors and control faults. Triaged first — a cold house can’t wait.
Short cycling — starts then stops
Dirty flame sensors, clogged filters overheating the exchanger, or pressure-switch and venting faults. Wastes gas, stresses parts, and usually a modest fix caught early.
Blower runs but air is cold
Ignition failing while the fan keeps moving air — sensor, igniter or gas-valve territory, all TSSA-certified work.
Loud bangs, squeals or rumbles
Delayed ignition, tired blower bearings, or duct expansion. The bang especially is worth diagnosing promptly.
Thermostat wars
Sometimes the furnace is fine and the thermostat or its wiring is the fault — the diagnostic covers the whole chain.
Electric furnace & air-handler faults
Sequencers, elements and blowers on electric systems — diagnosed at the $89 residential rate.

Repair, Maintenance & Replacement
We also handle pre-season furnace maintenance (combustion check, flame sensor cleaning, filter, blower and safety controls) and provide written replacement quotes when a heat exchanger or major component makes repair uneconomical. Ottawa Furnace Repair — FAQ
My furnace won’t start and it’s freezing. How fast can you come?
No-heat calls in winter are triaged first, like no-cooling fridges. Call 613-301-0016 and tell dispatch it’s a no-heat emergency – after-hours service is available with the $100 flat emergency fee.
Is a gas furnace diagnostic more expensive?
Gas-fired equipment is diagnosed at $129 + tax because gas work requires TSSA-certified handling. Electric furnaces and air handlers are $89 + tax residential.
Why does my furnace start, then shut off after a few minutes?
Short cycling usually points at a dirty flame sensor, a clogged filter overheating the heat exchanger, or a venting/pressure-switch fault. It wastes gas and stresses parts – worth fixing early.
Do you replace furnaces or just repair them?
Both. If the repair math doesn’t make sense – a failing heat exchanger on an old unit, for example – you get a written replacement quote and a straight recommendation.
Should I worry about carbon monoxide from an old furnace?
Every gas-furnace visit includes combustion and venting checks by TSSA-certified technicians. If we find anything unsafe, we tell you immediately and put it in writing – and every home with gas equipment should run CO alarms regardless.
